Collecta
Terms of service

The deal, in about two minutes

Last updated 18 August 2026

Using Collecta means agreeing to what follows. We have tried to write it the way we would explain it out loud.

What Collecta does

Collecta takes things you share — notes, links, videos, documents, images, recordings — and uses AI to turn them into organised notes filed into buckets you define. It can also synthesise across what you have collected and run web-grounded research on a topic.

You need an account to use it. Keep your credentials to yourself; anything done through your account is treated as done by you.

Your content stays yours

You own everything you put into Collecta and everything the system produces from it. You grant us only the permission needed to run the service: to store your content, and to send it to the AI providers listed in the privacy policy so they can process it and hand back a result. That permission exists to operate the product and for nothing else. It ends when you delete the content or your account.

What we ask of you

  • Only capture content you have the right to capture. If it is someone else’s copyrighted work, respect their rights.
  • Follow the law where you are when recording conversations. Consent rules vary widely and the responsibility is yours.
  • Do not use Collecta to build anything illegal, to harass anyone, or to store material that is unlawful to possess.
  • Do not attempt to break, overload, or reverse-engineer the service, or to reach other users’ data.
  • Automated or bulk use beyond your plan’s limits is not permitted. Plan limits exist because each capture costs us real money.

What AI gets wrong

Collecta’s output is generated by AI models. It can be wrong, incomplete, or confidently mistaken — including transcripts, summaries and research reports with citations. Every note keeps a link to its source so you can check it, and you should, particularly for anything medical, legal, financial, or otherwise consequential.

Collecta is a thinking tool. It is not professional advice of any kind, and it does not replace someone qualified.

Plans and payment

Free and paid plans are described on the pricing page, with every limit published up front. Paid plans renew automatically until cancelled, and you can cancel any time — you keep access through the period you have already paid for.

If you subscribe through an app store, that store handles the payment, the renewal and the cancellation under its own rules, and refunds go through them rather than us.

We may change prices. If we do, we will tell you before it affects a renewal, and you can cancel instead.

Ending it

You can delete your account whenever you like, from Settings. It is immediate and irreversible, so export first if you want a copy.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts the service or other users at risk. Except where something is seriously or repeatedly wrong, we will give you notice and a chance to export.

The legal necessities

Collecta is provided as-is. We work hard on reliability but we cannot promise the service will never be unavailable, never lose data, or always produce accurate output — keep your own copies of anything you cannot afford to lose. Export exists for exactly this.

To the extent the law allows, Collecta is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

If we change these terms materially, we will say so in the app. Continuing to use Collecta after that means accepting the new version.
